Today we received word from the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) that the 2015 Township Assistance Tax Rate for the Calumet Township Trustee Office is 10.4 times the statewide average. As you may recall HEA 1585 stated that for any year that we do not keep our township assistance property tax rate below 12 times the statewide average a number of consequences can be put in motion, most notably the Town of Griffith can seek secession through referendum.
